This guide shows you how to install the plugin. Configure the Facebook API application, used connect your website to Instagram. Display photos and videos in your Instagram account on the website

Before You Start

You will need:
  • A Facebook account
  • An Instagram account with media
  • Your Website Needs HTTPS

Install Plugin

At the dashboard, select add a new plugin and upload the boo-instagram-feed.zip file.
Or extract the boo-instagram-feed.zip file. Then upload the boo-instagram-feed folder to your plugins directory using FTP.
At the dashboard, click Instagram Feed, and in the Settings tab, the following values are required to connect the website to Instagram
  • Instagram app ID
  • Instagram app secret
You need to create a Facebook app according to our next instructions to get these values

Step 1: Create a Facebook App

Go to developers.facebook.com, click My Apps, and create a new app. When asked what your app needs to do, select Build Connected Experiences or Something Else/For Everything Else.
Once you have created the app and are in the App Dashboard, navigate to Settings > Basic, scroll to the bottom of the page, and click Add Platform.
Choose Website, add your website’s URL, and save your changes. You can change the platform later if you wish, but for this tutorial, use Website.

Step 2: Configure Instagram Basic Display

Click Products, locate the Instagram Basic Display product, and click Set Up to add it to your app.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Create New App.
In the form that appears, please get the Instagram App ID and Instagram App Secret to add to the settings in your plugin. Save it and continue to follow the instructions.
Continue to complete each section using the guidelines below.

Display Name

Enter the name of the Facebook app you just created.

Valid OAuth Redirect URIs

Enter the URL that the plugin displays at the settings tab
Your website needs HTTPS.
This URL is needed for your website to receive the access token from Instagram. You must enter the correct path provided at redirect_uri in the settings tab
For example: https://your-website.com/wp-admin/
After you enter a URL, save your changes and check the URL again

Deauthorize Callback URL

Enter your website’s URL.
For example: https://your-website.com/

Data Deletion Request Callback URL

Enter your website’s URL once again.
For example: https://your-website.com/

App Review

Skip this section for now since you will not be switching the app to Live Mode during the tutorial.

Step 3: Add an Instagram Test User

Navigate to Roles > Roles and scroll down to the Instagram Testers section. Click Add Instagram Testers and enter your Instagram account’s username and send the invitation.
Open a new web browser and go to www.instagram.com and sign into your Instagram account that you just invited. Navigate to (Profile Icon) > Edit Profile > Apps and Websites > Tester Invites and accept the invitation.
Your Instagram account is now eligible to be accessed by your Facebook app while it is in Development Mode.
Then you can add more accounts if you want.
Accounts that have not been added to the Instagram Experiment list and not yet accepted will not be available for use in the plugin.
